Grape Picking at Congaree & Penn
9:00 AM
Like I said in my last post, I love taking Isla on little adventures. Whether it be to a new city or town, or to a new spot in our own city. This morning we visited Congaree and Penn Farm & Mills. They have little You Pick events for the public to come and pick from the farm. Today we were able to pick muscadine grapes.
First, I have to say we got there at 9:15 AM, and it was already too hot and humid for me. I think I instantly started sweating the second I stepped out of the car and my hair just became a frizzy mess. But we met up with our friends and had the entire farm to ourselves! I figured the heat wouldn't seem so bad since we weren't fighting crowds too.
Isla likes grapes a fair amount, but she has never tried this particular kind with seeds. I think she loved them more than any grape she had before because hardly any grapes made it into our basket. She just stuffed them into her mouth as soon as she picked them. I was actually very surprised how quickly she caught on to the whole picking off the vine thing.
Regardless of the heat we managed to stay for over an hour. Isla loved it so much. I think we will be back for the pumpkin picking this fall!
